A non-visible disability is one that the naked eye can't distinquish from other personal traits. But it's important to the disabled person. In fact, everyone should consider it important.

From the dozens of hidden disabilities I'll start with hearing loss. It affects all ages, from youngest to the oldest in a community.

What you can’t see matters. Not able to hear what is said privately or in public spaces is a disability. Sometimes, the word "deaf" isn’t a flattering one. The rhetorical question, "ARE YOU DEAF?" is an insulting way to ask someone if they understand what you’re talking about.
